Chasseurs formed the four centre companies capable of both close-order drill and dispersed fighting. Carabiniers were the elite right flank company, equivalent to grenadiers but with enhanced skills in skirmishing. Voltigeurs provided the left flank light company, masters of individual marksmanship and reconnaissance.

The eagle bearer and deuxième portaigle carried the same sacred standards as line regiments.

For gaming flexibility, a standard bearer represents the 1st battalion without its eagle, as well as 2nd, 3rd, or 4th battalions. This pack provides a complete light infantry battalion, comprising 32 figures for close-order formations, as well as specialised skirmishers and command elements.
